FAQ

  1.  How long will the treatment take?

The longer you have had the pain, the longer it may take to respond to treatment. It also depends on the diagnosis, but your Chiropractor will advise you of the likely recovery time, and how to avoid or minimise it happening again. It is important to go for early treatment but Chiropractors are also effective at treating long-standing or chronic pain.

  1. What is the ‘popping/cracking’ sound with a Chiropractic manipulation?

Joints are surrounded by a capsule and fluid in between, to aid in normal movement. When a joint is restricted and then manipulated by your Chiropractor, the popping/cracking sound one hears is the gas being released within the joint. This gas, over time, will then be reabsorbed into the fluid of the joint.

  1. Is it safe to bring my children to a Chiropractor and can they benefit?

Yes, of course. Rest assured your Chiropractor will use gentle and often modified techniques that are best for the patient, however small. It’s important to make sure your children’s spines and nervous systems are healthy, especially in their growing phase.

  1. Is it safe to visit your Chiropractor when you are pregnant?

Yes, many pregnant ladies visit their Chiropractors to seek relief from their aches and pains. Your Chiropractor will use safe, gentle techniques that will best suit you and your unborn child. Diet, postural and exercise advice is often included.

  1. Can a Chiropractor treat a new-born baby?

Yes, in fact, the sooner your baby is checked, the sooner any problem due to injury or stress can be detected and treated, safely and gently.

  1. What is sciatica?

This is a simple term used to describe the pain associated with the large nerve that runs from your lower back down each leg to your feet. There are a number of reasons you can get sciatica, and your Chiropractor will be able to assess and explain the specific reason for your sciatica.

  1. Does a Chiropractor only treat the spine?

No, your Chiropractor has the training and the knowledge to assess and treat any muscle, bone and joint of the body. They tend to assess and treat the spine in conjunction with any other complaint, as they believe that the spine and the nervous system control the well-being and health of the rest of the body.

  1. Is Chiropractic treatment possible after surgery?

Yes, in most cases. Your Chiropractor has the proper training and experience to modify the treatment that is specific to your condition. Your Chiropractor will avoid the area that has had surgical intervention to give you the best results needed.

  1. Is the Chiropractic safe for children?

Yes, corrective treatment is safe for both young and old. Please see information regarding a particular treatment with Chloe Whittiker – 7 years old at the time of treatment.
